Here are some of the cooler maps I've got.

| QCON1 | One of the most famous maps made for 2 players. It is a very tricky map, and is very well balanced. Controlling the opponent, like in DM6, is nearly impossible to do, since the all the parts of the map are connected very well. A lot of surprises are possible with this map. Excellent design, and fun to play. The offcial map for Qonference 97, made by Headshot. QCON1 Screenshots | 164kb |
| Acrophobia DM7 | This map was made by id Software, but was not included in the series of the Deathmatch maps. It was made available sometime after the release of Quake though. This is a pretty big DM map with an inside part and a outside part. There is a big building in the map, which surrounded by water, and some outdoor catwalk corridors. You can get on top of the building through a windpipe kinda thingy, and there is a Quad triumphantly placed on a kind of platform sticking out from the building. There are a Pentagram, Invisibility, and a Quad, all in that level! It is a fun level to play with lots of players, and the map design is very cool. I don't like the fact that non-3dfx users will be kinda losing in this level, with all that water areas.

| UKOOLDM6 | Another cool map good for 2 players. There is a Quad in a real good place, where it's pretty hard to get. (But worth the reward, heh?) The rooms are very well connected, and like other cool maps, it takes full advantage of true 3D by the map's vertical aspects. Can be played with more than 2 players, but watch out for the health. (not many of them) One of the official maps for UK 1on1 League made by (again) Headshot.

| Spine | Qonference 98 map by Headshot. (Jeez, is he the only guy who make good maps?) This map provides very fast paced action. It is one of the simpler maps by Headshot (I think), and I personally like this one best out of his works. (but I don't think I've played every one of the maps) This map is a must in your collection.

| Death32c | A huge map for 32 players. It is basically a combination of DM2, DM4, and DM6, with minor lighting and structural changes here and there. This map is often used for player selections in big competitions. | 2.05mb (includes base32b) |
| Base32b | Another big map for 32 players. It's a combination of E1M1, E2M1, and E3M1. Most of the poisonous slime have been changed to harmless water. It has some bugs, like the underwater tunnel leading to the secret area in E2M1. | 2.05mb (includes death32c) |
| Ultraviolence | Another very vertical level. Lots of Rocket Jumping spots, and other jumps to items. It has lots of ammos and weapons although it is designed for 1 on 1 matches. If you play 1 on 1, it's gonna be real thrilling, and real intense. If you like very fast action, then this is the level. It played well when I tried 4 people in it, too. The Egyptian them looks pretty good.

| De Bello Quakero | Another cool level by the author of UltraViolence. (An Italian guy called Escher) This one looks like a stone temple. It has the cool looking temple, a cave-like thingy carved into a mountain thingy, then there is an outdoor place just in front of the temple gate. Very well constructed and provides excellent game play with around 4 people. More people can fit into it, and still have lots of fun in this map, though. I didn't find it too good for 1 on 1 since the map can be more or less controlled by one person with the Quad...

| Painkiller | Great vertical style map by Sten. This map, like other vertical maps, gives one helluva game play: Intense, thrilling, and back-twitching (any such word?). Like UltraViolence, this is great for super-fast 1 on 1 matches. The elevators and other props are fun, too.

| Lava Bass | Kinda like a base style DM level with DM2-type textures and some base-style lights and architecture. It's a pretty big map, and has a Quad and a Pentagram for power-ups. The Pentagram is neatly placed high above the ground, so you can get it only through rocketjumping (I think). The Quad is placed above the ground, too. You have to use a kind of boosted jump using the tilted platform thingy. A lot of lava action here, as the title of this map suggests. Miss a jump, or get blown away by rockets and you'll have a pretty good chance of falling into the lava. The way the Rocket Launcher is placed is pretty cool. This map isn't exactly cool for 1 on 1, but it plays very well with 3-6 people. This map is made by NiOXiN.

| Shadow Over Innsmouth | The only single player (yet?) to be in my collection of Quake1 maps. The most exciting Single-Player level I've ever experienced!! The map is based around a seaport, and there is even an ocean!! Go through the village filled with monsters with original skins, and blow the explosive barrels to splash them around, then go down to the sea, go through an underground pyramid filled with nasty fiends and shamblers, etc. etc. This map simply is amazing! The attention to details, the beautiful architectures, and the balanced gameplay makes this level really fun to play. If you are in for Single Player, you have to get this map. | 0.98mb |
If you know any real cool maps other than the ones listed above, plz mail me and inform me about it. Thanx.
